We visted Lara and Arno, Ashley and Ethan at their home at Gardener Ross Golf Estate. We had our first braai of the season as it was a beautiful day. After lunch we went for a walk with the whole family - very relaxing.

I have also received stunning photos of Lara and Arno's wedding which I hope to upload soon.

Feels like it's time for my Vitamin B shot...boost that immune system again.
It really does help.

Jades busy with cycle tests and has started playing cricket at school.

Meg is still loving her hairdressing course at Pasquale Academy. I frequently get planted on a chair and lectured on the indepth workings of hair follicles, curls and colour. Sounds like fun though.

Thursday night blues...

Been a rough week. Last week one of my co-workers Mark passed away after a long battle with cancer. Although we knew he was ill, he was so positive and eager to help that it still came as a shock to all of us when we heard of his passing. He moved out of the corporate world into teaching and last year was voted "Teacher of the Year".

Yesterday I attended his funeral and it is always so sad to see the family - wife and sons in pain. The mood was lightened when I open the pamphlet to see that we were to sing Christmas hymns....requested by Mark. This was the way in which he always lightened the stress at work - with a bit of humour. I learned so much from my collegue in 1 year. I will always remember the words he spoke at one of our staff meetings - reminding us how short life is, to make every moment count and how teaching was such a noble profession that we are called to.

Whenever a teacher was absent - he would be first to raise his hand and offer to stand in. At our parents evening a few weeks ago he came to our rescue again. I had been at school the whole day from 07h00 till 20h00 and was so tired. He noticed and called his wife to drop off some drinks for himself and chocolate for my friend and I. It may be a small gesture but he always seemed to notice when his co-workers need to be lifted.

Today one of my grade 11 form class boys was knocked off his motorbike. It was also so sad to see a young boy in pain as we waited for the ambulance to fetch him.
Fortunately he seems stable and just a bit bruised from the fall. Thank goodness he was wearing his helmet....

My grade 12's start their computer exams on 30 August...too much to learn in such little time. Practical assessments Phase 2 and 3 to be completed by next Friday. Busy days in the classroom. This holiday we have to attend training for the new curriculum which is coming in 2012.

I have to apologize to my family and friends - for not blogging for so long, not adding all the most important family events - the largest being the wedding of Lara, our daughter and her hubby Arno. It was a true royal affair hosted by Lara and Arno, with Lara finetuning all the arrangements of course. Still waiting to see all the beautiful wedding photos. (And believe me they are stunning - Lara found the most amazing professional photographer). The romantic wedding was held at Riverplace - near the Hennopsriver. Running streams, scenic venue, good food etc.

Lara was a vision of loveliness in her white bridal gown! I will add more about this huge family event when I have access to the photos - and describe more as I show the visuals.

Megan has completed the first theoretical part of her hairdressing course. Now from this week she works at the Pasquale salon in Kempton Park.

Jade has passed the second term of Grade 8 at Benoni High and currently lounging around at home taking it easy. I feel bad that I have been working for the first two weeks of my holiday and have been unable to take her out much or spend time with family. Hope to make up next week.

Have not done any scrapbooking forever - hope to be able to get at least one done next week sometime.

Blogging live from my Intel Course!

Long time no blog. I have been on this amazing Intel ICT course for the last three days at St. Johns. First time I saw the actual potential of Twitter as a social networking tool - sharing resources tool etc. It seems research shows that Twitter is the top Tool for Educational development and sharing.

I was also delighted to learn how to create my own Wiki - which I would love to use as a tool for supporting my Grade 10 - Grade 12 learners.

Yesterday I also sat in a on a very innovative class by John Davitt. He discussed various ways to present the content in class to make your classroom an exciting place to be. We divided up into groups and were each given various challenges. Our group had about 20 minutes to research info and present a 30 second "group whisper" which had to be presented to the audience. We worked well as a team and it was really great fun!

I will definitely follow John Davitt on the web as he really seems to have brilliant ideas about classroom teaching.

Tomorrow I am back at school - teaching winter school CAT to my grade 12's. Till 2pm then the HOLIDAYS begin!

Howdy friends. Had an amazing class with Tim Holtz at our Johannesburg Scrapbook Convention on Sat! He is such a charismatic teacher whos techniques got our fingers covered in ink and time flew by quickly. I really enjoyed creating a book from scratch and playing with all the colours and textures and metal embellishments! My very favourite was experiencing the Tim Holtz resist papers. I got a pack to play with.
Chat soon - gotta run - still finishing off some goodies for Lara's wedding this Friday at Riverplace. All printing done but have to add eyelets to a few items.

Well all the kits for that weekend are sold out! So here's some details of my kit I designed for Rio Carnival Casino last year - 2010!

I punched out the flowers and distressed them by crunching them in my hands and opening again. Then gently sanding them to expose the white. And what's a page without ink...as I like to say..."If it isn't moving ink it!" Will upload the whole page later on.
I used my Cuttlebug to cut out all the travel dies. In a dark brown and added antique gold to it to give it a Faux metal look.

Created the Title on my Pazzles machine - man I love this machine.

Hi there friends....long time since I had a moment to scrap. School is just soooo hectic....I teach High School CAT (Computer Applications Technology) and it is just crazy....I love it but it takes every waking moment from me. I had a look at a scrap website tonight for the first time in ages and thought it would be nice to add some of my older layouts....just for a walk down memory lane....I do hope to be able to scrap one of these days again. I have not taught scrapbooking for over 6 months and that little bug deep inside is starting to nibbl. I have been heading our Journalism team at school. It is sponsored by Peermont - the group that own all the casinos and we have been on Apple Mac training - wow amazing. Also went to Vega design school with the team one weekend. Learned so much there too.

Anyhoo....here's some of the golden oldies.

Well hello there! Long time no share!It's been a whirlwind romance at my new high school computer post!Time has flown so quickly as I strive to get on top of everything new in my new classroom surroundings.

Today I actually had time to teach a scrapping class - a double layout in black, silver and white! Only 3 attended but what a stunning morning together - the rest were sold as packs!

Life is hectic as a high school CAT teacher - (Computer Applications Technology!) I am eventually finding my feet though and starting to see the haze of "newness" clearing. My matric learners are already on study leave for their final exams! I have been hectic with my Grade 10 and 11's as we race to finish our Phase 2 & 3 of our Practical Assement task! We have accomplished a lot since the start of term and many new skills were taught to them. (They won't admit it, but they actually love being busy on the computers - and they love to learn new skills!)

The only down side is the mountain of marking I am creating - but that is all part of the package deal.

I am still tweaking my files for Moderation on Monday, ( my fabulous GDE facilitor is visiting - and she really is great and helpful) and we have Grade 12 Valedictory - so it is gonna be a long day on Monday 25th. That is 3 days before my Megs turns 19 years old! She is still enjoying her new wheels that we bought - A Chev Spark in Lumo Freen - man, this car suits her personality!

She has been accepted at Pasquale Hair academy and is over the moon with excitement.
She is on a break currently then will work at Pasquale from 24 November until next year when she starts to study hair there.

I am cheering up as I count the sleeps to our holiday in the Cape in December! This is such a short term and time is flying - hope I find time soon to create my next Christmas layout and finish off the blue and brown Family page too! And I have a second page just waitng to be designed.....and a travel page in the wings.....have a fab time in October 2010! RosyK

Good fellow bloggers and friends - ok, it's been just forever - but eventually I am back!

It's been a crazy few weeks at my new job at Germiston High - wonderful but crazy busy. Lots of changes in the class - Virus fixing, new profiling, finding my feet etc. Yesterday the old green board came down. Today the front of the class got a fresh coat of white paint. White board is waiting to go up! All very exciting and I believe the changes will bring new energy! Just really need more space for the projector on the wall.

I have met with the GDE facilitator already - had moderation after 2 weeks at school - hectic trying to find you way in some else's shoes - but each day gets better and more organised. Tasks to work through, Matric tests to set. Don't forget the Grade 10's and 11's.

I have hardly touched my scrapbooking at all - but now when I do scrap, I love it even more - just so relaxing - just can't wait to have time again.

Met loads of wonderful new people at GHS - everyone is just so kind and helpful as I try to find my way - slowly learning new names of teachers and learners.

Learning lots of new ways to network, ways to counter Virus attacks - but still lots to do! Spent this afternoon with our support guy - learning new tips and tricks in the fight against the invasion of the sneaky USB! Enter the seedy world of the Trojan virus......

Our poor learners were forced to stay away today - Strikers were there again today! Can't wait for it to be over!

Teaching a double page Vintage class tomorrow on the Beautiful new Fabscraps range - you'll just love the colours. Watch out La Passione - Rose is in the house tomorrow!

Teaching at Rio Casino Convention centre in Klerksdorp this weekend!

Well - all kits packed! Extra kits for stand also packed. Rob left this morning for Durban with his Italian mates - off to watch Soccer in Durban. Good night for take outs tonight for me and the girls!

Tomorrow is time for me! Nails at 9am, off to help a friend with Excel at 1pm.
Friday is good for Pedi etc....all the girly goodies.
Friday afternoon we drive though to Klerksdorp! I am so excited to be teaching at this venue!

Looking forward to meeting lots of new scrappers and seeing lots of scrapbooking!

Well - off to hand in dry cleaning for school clothes etc and hand back the dvd's from yesterday! The off to Pick n Pay for some nice crispy Italian rolls and time to start the spring clean of the study when I pluck up the energy!
I have Julius outside painting the wall next to the pool!

Another of the projects underway for summer! All designed but now to implement the new garden nook - beautifully designed by my friend Sandra - keep watching this space!

Packing kits for weekend away!

Good evening y'all! Rob's away in the Cape with Alberto - off to watch the soccer at Greenpoint stadium tomorrw. I am home with Megan and Vaughn. Jade is visiting her friend Sarah.
It is exactly one week to the weekend away at Rio Carnival Casino. My scrapkit to teach is ready but I am still designing kits for our little scrapkit stall. Rob thought of this marvellous idea of course, and not to worry, he would be helping, etc.....now he is visting MY family in the Cape and I am scrapping up a storm in his absence.

Had to take the Groot Trek to Westgate today to collect pants from Woolies that Rob had ordered. Took an hour to get there, then stood in the queue for half an hour at Customer Service only to find that I had left my Credit Card at Edgars in Lakeside mall yesterday when I went to buy deodorant for Rob! Anyhow, toodled off to the Standard Bank at Westgate, stood in a long end of month queue to get some cash! Nipped back to Woolies and organised the pants! Phew, by then I was getting really frustrated - rubbing shoulders will all the month-end shoppers. Another trip on the long highway, straight back to Lakeside Mall to Edgars.....where to my delight I claimed my credit card back from Security! Well bet run off now and finish some scrapping. Also giving a travel class at La Passione tomorrow again with 2 new beginners.....that will be fun.

Oh yes, and I am excited to mention that my garden project is underway. I am re-doing the area next to the pool. Plants have already been removed and I chose some paint yesterday and the wall has been started. Can't wait to get it all organised.

One more week off then - off to teach Sat and Sun - scrapbooking. The next week I go back to work fulltime at Germiston High School - teaching CAT to the grade 10's, 11's and 12's! Jade should get her report when she goes back to school then we apply at Benoni High School! Phew, it never rains but it pours!

There's something very enjoyable about working with colour. Today I finished designing a turquoise and brown double page layout - about Life...I also just completed some baby layouts in Pinks and Blues....here's a bit of the left page.

Well I have been on FBook tonight, completed a Co-op on Farmville, laughed at some of those funny comments, dabbed some silver paint on chipboard letters, had tea, sorted some green BasicGrey paper for packs....mmmm beautiful baby! So you see, there is some advantage to Adult ADD. Have a fab week y'all! Hope to be posting more photos soon! Hey not too many sleeps left for the weekend away with Clidanvilla at Rio Carnival Casino in Klerksdorp! Looking forward to a weekend of scrapping and meeting new friends!

Second day at school!

Well today went well - taught 2 matric computer classes today. They were all very excited about the soccer and came to school dressed up to the nines. Vuvuzela's were blown between every period and by the end of the day the school was humming with support for our National Soccer team - Bafana! (Their game against Mexico ended with a 1-1 result. Congrats!).

Well just enjoyed a quick catch up on Facebook - nice to check out the happenings at the end of each day! Well - guess I left this blogging a bit late tonight - chat soon!

Good evening from a chilly Benoni! Winter is upon and the gas heater is working hard to keep the chill at bay1 I have been so, so busy to the point where my afternoon nap this afternoon was a welcome relief....feel so good now..(no comment from the "younger" gallery please!) Jade has been very busy preparing for her Term 2 exams at Tom Newby. She starts on Wednesday kicking off with English & Technology, then Afrikaans & SS (Geog & History) on Thursday and Friday is Maths & Music.

Now before I continue, I must just congratulate the BLUE BULLS fab rugby team for their victory at Orlando Stadium on Sat - Rob was at the game with his friend Derick...sounds like much fun was had there.

I had a fabulous week - Spent Tuesday to Thursday at Keybase computer company revised and brushing up on my MS Excel & Access skills. Was really good to be in a professional environment, beautiful buildings and your really get treated like royalty....met 6 new people from various walks of life and different jobs and had time to get to know them better over shared lunches.

I finished two travel packs for La Passione - the 2nd "Pack your bags" without the 3D pop-up in the middle and another travel page to showcase 2 enlargements - really enjoying working on Keiser paper for travel in stunning shades of blue and green.

Tomorrow I must finish off a stunning vintage "Family Man" page for Fruitful Hands online store..an a warm "Mom & Me" page in shades of pink and yellow and warm brown...

The clock is ticking at I will have to get busy with my extra packs for the Scrap Affairs weekend away. I will be teaching at the Conference centre but Rob and Jade will be manning the stall just outside - there will be stalls with Scrapbook Kits, and lots of fun goodies to purchase too fro Clive and various other creative entities.

I am getting very excited to go teach at Germiston High during the winter school - the first week of the school holidays - from 10 July, 11 July, 14 July & 15th July.

Soccer Fever is mounting

Morning all. Well the winter chill is still upon us but the soccer fever in South Africa is mounting. Flags are hung everywhere, people are driving their cars - exposing their favourite soccer nation, stadiums are being showcased and there is a definite growing feeling of excitement for the World Cup.

Rob has got tickets to the Blue Bulls semi-final rugby game in Soweto on Sat and he is so excited about that. I am still fighting the flu and Jade is better (although still with the bronchial hacking cough!)

I have finished my packs for Scrap Affairs - with just notes to be added. I have also designed and packed the first Travel pack for the stall (which will be manned by Rob and Jade.....tee hee) while I teach at Rio Carnival on 10 and 11 July 2010.
All very exciting.

Jade starts school exams in 2 weeks - so lots of revision and catch up after her 4 days off school.

This Saturday at La Passione I will be re-teaching the pop up travel page due to popular demand! Anyhow, gotta run - have a fab day! Rose x

Good morning all! Well, it's official - been offered a CAT (Computer Aided Teaching) post at Germiston High school. All sounds very exciting and off to see the Headmaster on Wed morning. My is designed for the Scrap Affairs getaway in July and packs are well underway - ( I can cut paper in my sleep already!). Last night was chilly so I pulled a pancake recipe off the net and it turned out delish! Yummy with cinnamon, banana's and fresh cream!

This week Jade's netball team will be playing Laerskool Rynfield (the current champs) - so this should be fun! Hope the weather clears by then!

Meg has decided she wants to be a hairdresser - and is waiting to apply at Pasquale in June - intake is only in Jan every year! She seems very excited and is still dating Vaughn.

All well this side with Rob still hectic at work as usual -and me still busy but dreaming of waking up under a soft duvet to the sound of waves lapping gently outside my window.....such a dreamer.....have a fab day! xxx

I will be teaching at the Rio Hotel Casino Centre on the weekend of 10th & 11th July with Clive Frost and 2 more teachers. Very excited to be part of this fun filled event. I will be doing a travel page called BON VOYAGE! Design is already underway - keep watching this space for more info on this page. Take home kits will also be on sale at this wonderful event! {So don't forget to pack extra spending money for more treats at the stalls!)

I had such fun sourcing hats and decorating them for Jades Grade 7 Model evening at Tom Newby - she co-ordinated a group of 5 girls to do a little dance routine and I took the girls shopping for an outfit etc...Sat there painting all their nails the same pink - doing make-up and tweeking costumes to fit.

Poor Jade had developed such a bad flu bug by then - she had to drink a disprin to keep the temperature down before she went on stage. Anyway you wouldnt have known watching the girls perform and it was a fun evening for the kids. Term 1 was ok for Jade - but she is really gonna have keep up her hard work to get the right marks for High School applications.

Meg is still deciding what she wants to become - and is currently working at a hairdresser as a receptionist to see if that is the career she wants to persue. Meanwhile she is catching up on her dance classes - as she stopped for a year - and is busy with Tap Gold and Higher Lower, Modern and Ballet. She is really enjoying it now that Matric is over.....

I am have applied for some computer teaching posts as schools - but nothing has come of that yet - except at a High School in June - so I do what I love best - still teach Scrapbooking and compile packs for shops to sell.

Rob and I went for a nice walk this morning at 6 -sun was already up and shining bright and early. Off to shower and wake Miss Jade for her bunny visit! Have a fab day!

Goodmorning - well I seem to have recovered from the busy weekend and Jade is improving nicely - so the sun is shining and it seems like a good day to take Jade to feed the bunnies at the Bunny Park!

By request I will be teaching a class at La Passione tomorrow from 9.30 - 12.30 - for all the teachers to play catch up. They have requested my 7Gypsies school page layout but I will take my album if you want to join us and pick a class from the album to work from.

So nice to have Jade on school holiday and no dance and netball extramurals.....Just extra Afrikaans once a week - which seems to be paying off nicely since she got 73% this term. Well done Jade. Meg is still working as a receptionist at the hairdresser - to see if that's what she wants to study! (Let's all pray for some wisdom and direction in this regard!).

In April I will teach Family and Birthday page - seeing as it's Birthday Month at La Passione!..

1 April is Rob's birthday - so he will be taking the day off and we will spend it together - maybe go see a long overdue movie together.

Well we are off to a new fresh start once again. Jade has turned 13 and Lara 29 in the last 3 weeks. Time just keeps on ticking by.... Jade is in the throws of Term 1 exams so the house is abuzz with activity and studies. Netball practice has started and modern, tap and ballet classes are hectic as always. Meg is also very busy with her modern, tap and ballet - so Mom's taxi-ing service is hectic.
So happy my page for the 27 March full day scrap is complete - now I am working on a "CUTIE PIE" page for this Sat - for girls in shades of pink an boys in ...who knows yet! Taught a hectic class on Sat using the Fabscraps African range - and then jetsetted off to Fourways for a braai - and meet the family to be with Lara and Arno. Sunday was just a day of rest and Jade did a bit of studies while Megs went to visit her boyfriend and his family.

Meg has gone to do her nails now and I have lots of work to do before fetching Jade. Also busy with a vintage Easter layout for Donnalee at Fruitful Hands.

I will be teaching a fun travel page in shades of blue with fun pop ups and have fun with your stash of stamps and enjoy some creative energy with a vintage heritage page and ultra thick.....Book to avoid disappointment on Tuesday at La Passione.

Had a really cool weekend - taught and laughed with some great scrappers at my class on Sat. This coming Saturday I am teaching a beautiful co-ordinated double page - heritage with some fun stamping and embossing as mentioned in class on Sat - glad you girls love the paper. About time I turned my attention to my ancestors once again.

Well, at least the rain has stopped now and here's hoping that the rain holds back for a few more days to clear the garden a bit. {more like Shreks swamp I should say!}.

Well the time has come for me to go sew those pink ribbons on the Pointe shoes for Jade. What a job - but some-mommy's gotta do it. Hope you have a wonderful week.

Hi All - at last I can access my blog once again. Off to to a wonderful start with fabulous news - Megan got her IEB Matric Results and she passed with MATRIC EXEMPTION - which means she can attend Varsity if she likes. Yahoo - that was fabulous news after the Star Newspaper in the Cape Published her results with just Diploma status.

Jade has started Grade 7 at Tom Newby - and off to a busy start - with book covering and front page subject designs full underway!
I have also had a break from SCRAPBOOKING and ready for action now again.

Some much paper {photos} - so little time.

Teaching a fun CHRISTMAS double layout at La Passione this Saturday - packs will be underway soon too. My next page for La Passione will be a love page....yeah baby.....and my mind is full of fun things - for little girls and Easter festivities...... gonna make this a creative, busy - money making year!

Anyhow - the crazy rain has held back a bit now and the birdies in the front garden are walking instead of floating again....

12 November - all is well! Exam stress high!

Good morning all! Jade survived her RAD ballet exam - was quite pleasant chatting to mommies while the girls strutted their stuff to the piano music. Girl time is always special. Megan and Jade both write Mathematics tomorrow! I am still hybernating at home during the week and supporting the girls.

I am teaching a class at La Passione Crafts on Sat morning at 9.30 - 12.30. Paint technique for the creative scrapper - or just to get out of the regular rutt.

Gooday all! Yes - been out of circulation again - lucky this is my personal blog - so no rulez apply. Starting to feel a bit more upbeat! Megan is recovering from her German Measles bout and studying hard for Matric Finals. Jade is doing her Ballet RAD exam on Monday. She starts school exams on Friday next week with Maths as the first exam. Rob is working his butt off at work as per usual.

On the positive side of things - during the week Rob and I started walking and it is starting to make me feel a lot better generally.

I am teaching at La Passione at 30 Fourth Avenue Northmead tomorrow! It is essential to book {as we dont like to overcrowd the class}. I am teaching a stunning colour paper technique to add the TEXURED look to your travel snaps! Bring gloves for the ladies with pretty nails - you'll be working with shoe polish! It is really a fun and rewarding technique to play with though!

If travel is not your thing, you can always do a different theme for your layout in colours that turn you on!

Well girls are studying hard and I have just quickly designed a layout for our table at the Mama Mia dance show tonight! Woo Hoo! This will be fun! Have a wonderful weekend you all!

Morning all! Long time no chat - ok, after much peer pressure to return to my blogging - I have melted and given in to expressing myself again. Well - this will have to be quick - as I have a naggin husband waiting to get onto FaceBook and the whole family is stirring as the sun rises in teh East Rand. Birds are tweeting, leaves are popping out on the trees and weeds are flourishing in the front garden. Brr - still a little chill in the air but I am sure it will heat up nicely. Ed, Lin and boys arrive for a 10 day visit today.

Busy working on a fun travel pack for Beautiful Scrapbooks and a colourful Christmas page for La Passione ( yes, working on both at the same time - ahhh the joys of adult ADD!). Well - hope to chat soon. Gotta run to go make the morning cuppa tea and get something warm for my freezing arms. Have a wonderful day and go well!

Well, its that time of year again! Gauteng is not easy on the plants! Frost settles and there goes the garden! It's been a while since my last log - been absorbed in so many activities. Main event at present is Meg {my Matriculant} - ADHD matriculant that is! She wrote Home Ec theory yesterday and is busy with English Lit as we speak - Othello and Things fall apart!
Jade {in grade 6 this year at Tom Newby} is still enjoying the benefit of school holidays. She is still sleeping as I write!
Its a chilly day here in Benoni today but I really do appreciate the sun shining through the study window - as does my cat, Bijoux - (the 8+kg fat orange pavement special - love of my life).

Meg had a study - sleep over with a friend from school (a flu ridden friend) so she better have a nap before studying maths for tomorrow. (Maths 1 - whatever that may be!) It's been a while since I attempted Matric maths - and I don't miss it one bit!

Yesterday I took Jade to the movies to see Ice Age - with Linah (our domestic help) and her daughter and niece. It was a very brave move on my behalf - long queues snaked out from the poorly assisted ticket office - and Ice Age was sold out till the afternoon. So I booked electronically and braved the 2.30 popcorn queue (which took 1/2 hour to get to the front) only to be served by laid back ladies - who should perhaps have applied for a job in the Bahamas - where time is not an issue. Eventually I ushered them into the cinema - and when I collected them it seemed like it was a worthy cause - each one had a smile plastered across their face!
Ah - the joys of a stay - at -home mother!.

It's funny how in the cold season I miss my family in Cape Town so much - and long to take a quick flight out to see them and have a cuppa and a few laughs! Well must run to shower now so I can be ready for Mom's Taxi later today!

Brr and Brr again! It's been chilly the whole day. This afternoon we started with the light drizzle - and it's still at it! Umm, its 8.05pm now. Just finished drying Jades hair after her bath. She stayed home today - Woke me at 2am with the runs and "I feel like getting sick, Mom!" Anyhoo - 1 hour laters Jade and the dogs were back in dreamland. Ahh - the joys of motherhood....

Anyway - went in La Passione to teach 4 new ladies - who politely couldnt make it - after doing all the notes, prep etcc.......well what can I say! Grrrrrr!!!!! Turned out it wasnt so bad - I finished off my His and Hers page for Saturdays class - that was quite fun! Saw my good buddy Bernice - who also popped in to pack one of her own Baby packs - {she's the baby pack Queen I might add}.

So Meg tells me starts Prelims in about 2 months - {Thank goodness I colour my hair - or tonight I would look like Cruella d'Eville! Grey! Shock, horror etc.... well, it's out of my hands and in Megans now. Just tried out my new long black coat - fetched Meg from Extra maths.

Let's hope this week holds lots of possibilities and opportunies to grow and develop and make lots of money for Matric daughter outfits!

Well, I havent given up on bloggin just yet! Just had A really HECTIC month. The wedding of my niece Kim to Guy was absolutely wonderful They both looked so radiant and I really enjoyed seeing the glint of a tear in his eye as she approached the outdoor area for their vows! {I did Kims makeup - and she looked so beautiful} She looked a vision of loveliness in her twinkling designer dress! It was a breathtaking location too - in Melkbos - on a golf estate - overlooking the deer speckled greens and the distant ocean further off.

We were served delicious hot snacks while they went off for photos on the beach - and it was a great time to catch up with all my family again. As expected in the Cape, their was a touch of wind - but it added to the ambience. The ceremony was very well executed and they brought tears to our eyets as they pronounced their love to each other.

The food was outa this world and after short speeches {heartfelt, mind you} we danced the night away to a live band called History. We were having the time of our lives.......when.......

Ed and Lin's geyser burst at 10.30 and we all had to rush home to help - Lin's mom and sister were looking after our kids and the ceiling had collapsed from the weight of the water causing a steaming hot waterfall from the roof into their bedroom - flushed out the carpet and bed and some of the cupboards.....That was quite traumatic for us all. Anyhow - got through that unscathed and then went to sleep at my sister Lavernes place - after staying up till 2am chatting. You know how it goes when you just "catch up" on everything.

Thoughts of sleeping in were chattered when Charmaine and Bruce and their 3 kids popped in for breakfast and to show us how much their cute little boy had grown. Was nice to catch up with them too - but by then I was exhaused {after about 10 nights of going to sleep after 12}...Had a cat nap in the afternoon - all of us - and then we went to my sister in laws sister for a braai - stayed there for a while then went back to Vernie and Robbie.

Phew! But was good to be in the Cape - even though it was rushed.

Well - Rob turned 53 on 1 April - we opted for a quite day at home with Spahetti and Mince - {his request that I make it for him}. Lara gave him a stunning new Blackberry phone - which kept him busy for ages. He cant wait to go back to work on Monday to Sync all his contacts.

Same day in C.T. Lin went for her last Chemo session. She was unfortunately a bit ill - but recovering well.

I am still exhausted but quickly nipped out to get a new black ink cartrige for Meggies project this weekend and then off to La Passione to set class teaching dates and then to Beautiful Scrapbooks to collect pages and get new goodies to design another pack. Getting there slowly, but surely.

Hope to get back to gym on Monday first thing after dropping Megs at school. I went to the doc for blood tests and my cholesterol is a touch high and my liver needs a bit of detoxing - and no, I dont drink much at all - could it possibly be the vast amounts of pure Lindt chocolates I have devoured in the past? Will have to look into this habit of mine.... Need to lose some weight too - and just generally work on the health -I am sure scrapping will burn off many calories - so I am signing off now - to go play with my new stuff!

Jade turned 12 on 26 Feb 2009. Lara popped in to celebrate the occasion and we went out with Megan, Lara and Rob for the occasion. Jade chose to have a Chinese supper out with Sushi. We really enjoyed the evening together and Lara ended up treating us all to supper! Was so great to just all visit together again.

A new day, a new week - new opportunities to do good, create and have fun!

I painted the letters pink. While it was still wet I added pink scrapbook glitter. I cut out black paper to cover an old cd for the front of the card. Added a piece of pink on the inside fold. The card is folded into 3 pieces. Die- cut flowers were added with bling in the middle. Check out the other photos - had such fun altering this card - the 21st was Grease theme - with lots of records etc.

Wow - was so great to be back teaching such fun ladies again. I had a ball at La Passione - we did a 4 page layout - and although mine was christmas - we did some on birthday paper, some on other christmas paper, one gorgeous formal page on black and turquoise. It was such fun!

I then did a fab tour of Benoni Open gardens which was so inspirational on Sunday afternoon. I feel the garden inspiration growning - Hope to make time to improve our garden this year.

I am grateful for this rain we get daily - its so good for our garden - just hope my garden service gets back to servicing gardens soon - or the grass will take over!

Here's a page I did for La Passione - for Halloween paper - my niece worked on a luxury liner - and they dressed up for Halloween - The skulls are 3-D with brads for eyes! Not a pretty site for sure - but was fun, and different to do it!

We'll hello there - have time for a quick blog update - before I run off to fetch Miss Jade. Scrapbooking is threatening to show a bit of order at last. Most notes are done - and then I am totally settled. Creativity will be called upon soon. I start teaching again this Sat - so that should be fun for all at La Passione - 30 Fourth Avenue, Benoni. Girls are back in their routine at school and extramurals via Mom's Taxi. Meg has decided to give up Modern and Tap classes {although this was traumatic for her - as she burst into tears when she told me!}. Let driving for me though - so I can live with it. She will carry on with her beloved Ballet - and they have a show in March. Jade will continue as before with modern, tap and ballet but she has dropped choir due to time issues.

We are making a serious effort to eat healthier meals and its going well so far. Everyone is dropping those holiday kgs - not fast, but they are coming down. Jade is getting fitter too which is great.
Got Julius to come trim back the garden forest last week - and he will be back in 2 weeks for more trimming. Otherwise all is pretty much back to normal.
I miss Cape Town and my family a lot - don't know why it's become such a big thing. Anyway I will be going to my nieces wedding in March so I will get to see them then. Can't wait - big thanks to Lin and Ed - they donated a return flight to me. Talked about Pay it Forward! I feel so blessed to say the least.

I just wish health on my family in Cape Town. They have had a difficult Jan - Lin starts chemo on 29 Jan and my other sister in law Jeanette had to be rushed to hospital to have kidney stones removed. She is back home again.

Welcome 2009!

Phew it's warm this evening. But, oh, theres no place like home. We came back from Uvongo in Durban 2 days early because of the humidity! Man, was it was sweltering there. I really enjoyed the sound of the rolling waves though - that was so relaxing.I have come to the conclusion that we need to take Jade to places that have entertainment for kiddies though. She really needs that otherwise she drives me crazy with that "Mom, I'm so bored here story of hers!" Manage to scrap some pages but couldnt do too much - was scared to curl the pages I was working with - yes, it was that humid!

Anyhow, looking forward to getting back into routine again - gym, school, dance classes for the kids etc. So, whats new?

Megan - goes to Matric this year!
Jade goes to Grade 6 this year!
Jade starts scholar patrol this year - {which means going to school earlier every 2nd week} - give me strength for Megan - thats gonna be fun!
Rob still works at Standard Bank at Africa IT.
I will still teach part- time scrapping and do take home packs.
Have to finish a few odd jobs on the house - like paint the skirtings, cut back the garden jungle, sort out all my scrap stuff etc!

I have chosen "gratitude" as my word for this year - I want to appreciate more, take less for granted, appreciate my skills and make the most of my health and fitness levels. Being 43 years old makes you review things more often and tweek the relationships.

So today, well actually this evening I take time out to think about my close friends, my dearest and nearest. My husband. The girls I meet and chat to over a decaf cuppaccino some mornings. Those ex- work collegues that still chat and send birthday wishes, faraway friends, school mates overseas, people that are dear to my heart, scrappers that I chat to via email that are so kind and helpful, even though we have never met or just briefly. Friends with patient ears - that listen without interruption, friends that believe in me and bring out the best in me, friends that send words of affirmation and encouragement. I appreciate you all and am grateful to have you in my life.
May this year bring you much happiness and joy and everything your hearts desire.

Good morning from a warm Benoni. This day I will focus on gratitude! A few weeks ago my sister-in-law in Cape Town, Lindika found out she had breast cancer. It came a shock to the family as she is only 34 years old - does not touch alcohol, tobacco or meat! No history in the family either. It was a trying period for her and she really tugged on our heartstrings - really sad to see someone so special going through such a trying time. She has been very brave though - and went into surgery on Sat morning, had the masectomy and is going home today. Lymphs were clear - thank God for that! And now the recovery at home and then off to the oncologist for the analysis and start of chemo. Just made me think - while we are planning, like just happens. I was introduced to an amazing group of women at BreastBuddies - a breast cancer support site - as I updated Lin's blog and BreastBuddies site while she was in hospital. What a wonderful group of positive, enthusiastic women. They were so kind and supportive to Lin - even though they had never met her before - you go girls - I have much to learn! Lin was so impressed that the ladies even sent her flowers in hospital even though they had never met before. They all wanted to hear how she was doing while she was in hospital - I was so impressed with these ladies.

My word for 2009 will be gratitude - I will be thankful for our health - the love of friends and family, pets, homes, jobs and all the good things in life. {And even, the little daily things we take for granted!} Have a wonderful day you'all! Offroad fun!

Boy, there is something really great about being in your forties! I have had such a great weekend! Last night I was thrilled to be at the Rod Steward concert! Today my throat is a bit hoarse from all the screaming and shouting and singing Baby Jane at the top of my voice! {Oh, yes, my personal favourite - almost thought he wasn't gonna sing it - then couldn't contain my excitement when the first notes played! }. Today Rob and I went to Gerotek to do 4 x 4 training on our Honda CRV - it was amazing - just to be out in the fresh air trying new moves with our new car. Photo included - just took a quick photo in the garage! We were covered in mud, but it rained on our way home - so most of it washed off! The biggest Fear Factor-facing moment was going up a 40 degree incline - wow - thank heavens Rob did this one, cause as the car edged to the tip, all I could see was sky, yes clouds - and no road....then once the nose tipped down - there was no turning back baby! Weee - weee wee - all the way down! Phew - we made it to the bottom! Then, we had to do it up the same incline again - and don't forget - don't give too little juice -cause then you just roll down again - {backwards} - not funny on an incline like this! Felt like I was on a rollercoaster without any strings attached as we wizzed up the ramp! Adrenaline was pumping and I was WIDE awake after that little trip! At least I did the ride through the sand pit - and the incline tilts were rather fun - also testing my fear of heights to the limits! The final course included steep twists, sharp ramps and declines, mud driving and rock bed crawling - we both had a turn to try that - which I loved completely - now I wanna join the club and do it all again! Was so exciting! Wow - what an exciting weekend - wander what this week holds. ...

Ok - so I have 2 packs at Beautiful Scrapbooks {Bantjies Street, Rynfield} at the moment - one is called Create: its about your scrapping.....art....etc. The other is Family Heritage - a layout on my Nana....

This Saturday I am doing 3 double page layouts - Faux Metal, {or the diary layout - with a gazillion photos}, a home layout using lots of circles, and a Freestyle page with butterflies, photo frames and lots of folding and tearing of edges & with flowers....

All for the low, low price of R790 {including supplies, food and drinks by Chef Riccardo}....just bring your glue and cutting tools etc....lot so fun with paint!

Me again - meant to say "Blogged", but you gotta understand! This is my first free time of the day! and its 10.26 pm here. Bietjie moeg, miskien, ja? So what have I been upto? {apart from the girls!~} Well they say a picture says a thousand words, right. I asked my 17 year old to pose for a picture for one of my pages {which, just by the way, she used to love doing... and not so long ago too!} Here she is, in her glory....Sweet Seventeen ...Ok, so anyway... I have been busy at home - supervising our new skirting boards - nice 150mm thick - {not a quiet job}. Been designing packs for scrapbook stores and for teaching at La Passione and for Lesley at Scrapping at Home. The good thing about this day, is that I went back to gym - yes, after a lazy absence of about a month (give or take a few weeks!)

Ok - I haven't blogger for over a month! That says it all, I guess!

Thank you Clear Water pools in Boksburg for a job well done! We are so delighted with our renovation of the pool! Cant wait for the water to get a bit warmer so I can have my first swim of the season. Last night was still a little chilly but at least the extra blankies are off now - so roll on Spring weather.

The lounge wall is bricked up and a single door added. Just drying out then will add some wall fix and paint! Still very dusty in this area.

Yes, can you believe our anniversary is on th 9 September! I was so happy to receive a beautiful bunch of flowers from Rob! This was taken about 3 days later! Friday night I went to Emperors Palace to watch a caberet called Irresistible - ( with Megan and other friends from ballet class) - it was such an entertaining evening out - although I must admit I am not such a late night owl anymore. (Except at home, of course!). I taught at Scrapping Times on Saturday morning and had such a fun time. I do so love the Arts though and cant wait to go see Rod Steward when he comes in December - I am crossing my fingers that he will sing "Baby Jane" - one of my favourite songs from way back when! Have a fab week!

Firstly I had the wall bricked in. So this place will be great in chilly winter now. It is busy drying out at the moment, but the dust is not so bad anymore. Wooden door frame is in at the edge of the wall.

Ok, so the bar area has been gutted. Ripped out the wooden shelves. Busy chipping off the ol plaster layers now. Not looking too bad and the dust is dying down slowly.

Yahoo the pool guys turned up to do some more paving. I got two of my local guys to help me remove the old wooden shed so that we can add the plastic small cover.

Wow - did I have fun with this - the frame is part of the class for Saturday for the Scrapping Times class. Its chipboard - quite altered, yes. I am sure this will be a really fun class to give. Hope the girls wear their old "yard" clothes to class!

Well Smartstone delivered the pool pavers and coping - yahoo - one step closer - now we are just waiting for the sand and cement to be delivered then perhaps we can get back to the pool renovation. Funny how I can organise my own deliveries so quickly..... well I guess that's why they need us women! Have a fabulous day - happy scrapping! The weekend is around the corner!

The deed is done! Pumped out the water - they lifted the paving and coping stones off the pool - that was Thursday - Friday they did not turn up! Nice one - lucky I was distrated! Watch out for me Monday though!
